    338 260HH vs 267HHT

Well there was a mix of things, I changed lots of RL26 and primers and got pressure much earlier on second firing. I figured with my planned hunting ranges just to steer clear of pressure because with that bullet it really doesn't matter. Pressure was in the form of a slightly stiff bolt lift...

    338 260HH vs 267HHT

Short answer is you can get that velocity with virgin brass. My 1x fired brass I had to take it down 100 fps. But virgin ADG brass, 92 gr of RL26, 1/4T Crimp, and a 260 HH I get 3060 fps with no pressure sign in sub 1/2 MOA 10 shot groups. I have a 26" carbon six rifle throated for 300 gr...

    2023 Big Game Success Thread

tagged a small buck, a young bull and an old cow with 260 gr HH out of my 338 RUM this fall. Buck was close, 100y quarter away and DRT. Cow went a few yards and bedded (liver shot), and I finished her off. The bull was most interesting, made a good shot 450 yards. He ran 15 yards and...

    300PRC Load Data 182HHT

With that short barrel I would definitely start with H4350. To be conservative (not knowing brass, primer, etc), I think starting ~65 gr and work your way up to pressure would be a good idea.

    300 WIN & H4350

Yeah I was hoping to get 3600 without pressure but didn't happen. It seems like CA rifles pressure early. Decided to shoot 74.5 since I am sharing this load across 3 different rifles on this hunt. 3456 is plenty for the distances we will be shooting and at altitude.

    300 WIN & H4350

Yeah definitely understood. I always re-work up a load after first firing after making that mistake before. Twist rate is 1-10". COAL is 3.390

152 gr HH. I have 200 of them that have been waiting patiently.

    300 WIN & H4350

I planned to do this test over a year ago, finally getting time. Peterson Brass (Virgin, regular) Fed 215 CA Mesa Ti (24" barrel) Seated to 1st groove, 1/4T Crimp H4350 152 gr HH Grain Speed Pressure 74 3422 No 74 3446 No 75 3480 No 75 3473 No 76 3513 Faint...

    .338 RUM

I use RL26 for 260 gr HH, IMR 4955 worked well for the 213 HH. I pressured out at ~3400 fps with 95 gr...but i started my load workup at 85. RL23 would work well and I have been wanting to try H4350 just have not made time. Plus RL26 + 260 HH shoots so well I can't justify taking any other...

    .338 RUM

I love my 338 RUM. It is a custom that weighs 9.5 lb scoped and is set up to shoot 300 gr ATIPs. Its 10 shot groups are 3/4" and hammers down on game...3 shot groups are consistently .3's. I have a 26" 1-9" carbon six barrel shooting the 260 HH at 3060 fps. It is a machine. I pushed the 213...

RL23 for 280AI with 140gAbsolute Hammer starting point

I never used RL23 in my 280ai but IMR4955 ran out of case capacity before pressure. I anticipate RL23 might be similar for you. Nosler has a max of 58.5 gr of RL23 for a 160 gr bullet https://www.nosler.com/280-ackley-improved I think 56 gr would be a safe starting point and you likely will...

    214 HH bc

Looking forward to hearing your results. At sea level, a change it would require a change in G7 BC nearly 0.1 to get the 10" difference you are seeing or the velocity being off by 75 fps. That raises flags in my head that there are likely multiple things wrong. I think verifying range is a...

    Bear Bullet

Fortunately the bugs were not out in force, but due to the hard winter neither were the bears. End of May hunt and dandelions were just starting to grow. We never picked up a bear in the green and I was fortunate enough to see one across the canyon. It was long days for sure, 5:30 to 9pm most...
