    45-70 250 Gr. Shock Hammer

Looks like I can get one in stainless for $400 plus shipping. I showed it to my daughter and told her to get it for Father's day Kris

    45-70 250 Gr. Shock Hammer

Hard to find especially in stainless but that would be my first choice. It looks like the CVA would be a good poor man's hotrod. Kris

    45-70 250 Gr. Shock Hammer

I was able to cheat my OAL out just a little and still get the loaded round to eject from my lever action. It gave me more powder capacity. Would you have room to be able to do that? Maybe hit that 3k fps range. Kris

    45-70 250 Gr. Shock Hammer

That's some impressive speed for the 250 SH. My 2604 fps was the fastest I'd known of from a 45-70 with that bullet. You just walked right past that. That AA1680 powder can really push that bullet. It's what I run also. I'd love to see what that can do on a critter. How's that brass life? Kris

Straighwall Cartridges for Muzzleloader Season - What are your thoughts.

Keep in mind the reason for restriction tightening or loosening is often to control the harvest numbers. When biologists want to harvest or restrict harvest of a species in certain areas they can use different season and weapon restrictions. By allowing a liberal use of a weapon such as ML...

Straighwall Cartridges for Muzzleloader Season - What are your thoughts.

I guess I don't understand why not just hunt during rifle season if you want to run a rifle. ML season for those. The same can be said for allowing handgun hunting during archery. Maybe do away with archery and ML and combine the seasons then call them short range. Allow any archery gear...

    AHT first round

Thanks Farleg, As usual very helpful. I'm currently waiting on a fast 6mm biuld. 7PRC necked to 6mm. Was planning to run the HHT but this has me intrigued. The extra speed of a AHT and possibly picking up a little BC with the upgrades. Might not be the BC of the HHT but then it is so similar...

    AHT first round

Farley, What's your thoughts on the AHT so far. Are they close to what they need to be? I know Hammer has the final say about putting them into production. Are they the same externally as the AH but with the tip design technology incorporated? Or will these have a different Parabolic Band...

I've been doing it wrong all this time.

You level the rifle first and while it's level you turn the scope. You could lock the rifle into a vise or simply have it setup on a bipod and level the rifle or pistol then look at the wall turn the scope and then start tightening the scope rings. If you cause anything to move it will be very...

I've been doing it wrong all this time.

Same concept for the first half. Zoom in on the photo and see what they are doing by shining the light back through the scope causing the shadow on the wall. You don't need to get behind the gun while you make adjustments. I see it as more efficient way of doing it. The way you do it is how...

    Alpha Munitions

I'm familiar by name only so I just looked them up. They don't really offer that man cases and must specialize in the smaller ones. I did notice one particular 6.5 case that I found interesting. Kris

I've been doing it wrong all this time.

Simple and easy. If you don't have a Lazer then use a line on the wall or hang something and make one. The light back through the scope is a great idea. Obviously level the rifle first. Kris

    AHT first round

This is very interesting. The AHT could be an option in my hot rod 6mm biuld. What are the pros and cons of a AHT vs HHT. Am I correct that it should yield very similar on game performance but give better velocity? Maybe a little more BC? Kris

That's it. Simple and fast Kris

Anyone Using 250 SH in 45-70 Lever Gun? 1895 Marlin Specs?

If you look on Barnes web page you can find the load info for their 250 bullet. It will get you started. I'm out of town and don't have my load info handy. Also be careful. As you might know not all 45-70 rifles are the same and can't even come close to holding pressure that others do. Kris
