Now you're talking. For Whitetails We use an 85 Hammer Hunter over 43.5-44 of Varget seated at 2.640. MV of a touch over 3400 fps and most deer drop at the shot. If you want to go a little heavier, try the 99HH over 41.7 of Varget at 3200 fps and an oal of 2.680. Or is you must. a 124 HH over 40 of Varget. Works well on just about anything, I killed a massive cow Elk with that load.Well so far I have only shot them at 100yds working up loads and have hot hunted them, this last summer I bought 4 new rifles 2 6.5 CM, a 6.5x55 and the 308, the 6.5s I like them over the 308, I doubt that I will keep the 308 around, that are all good rifles but I like shooting the 6.5's a lot better, will be using them to hunt deer.
Sorry I forgot to add that, 2.750. Remember with hammers you can tune them with crimp. Barnes you tune with seating depth.what did you seat the 124 COAL

I prefer the 123-124 hammer in my creedmore. The 123 will do all the speed and more than the 85 with more mass. Now you're talking.
