Carson and his partner spotted a goat through the thick Alaskan fog while heading toward a mountain peak. Carson was ahead of his partner and kept moving towards a flat spot to take a shot. The goat wandered away momentarily but then got curious and returned. Carson's partner managed to capture a great picture before Carson pulled the trigger. Using his self-built 7 Sherman Short and the 155 Hammer Hunter, Carson took a quartering away shot at what he estimated to be 200 yards due to the fog. Carson stated, "He dropped where he stood and, as goats are wont to do, kept dropping, and dropping, and dropping before coming to rest in the snow at the bottom of our cirque."
Upon recovery, the goat lost a horn. The bullet entered the crease and blew through the opposing shoulder joint. Carson retrieved the bullet from the far side hide.
Congratulations to Carson, and thanks for sharing your hunt.
