    Fordys finding’s with 243/6mm

I'm making a second trip to range for higher load workup on 75 HHT in 20.5" Sako 85 Carbonlight (10 twist) using Varget. I might also try some N540 to see how fast that can go. I'll report back soon.

    6.8 WESTERN HHTS 160 GRNs.

half MOA is pretty darn good. Do you mind sharing info on your load workup so far; assuming with H4831SC? I had tried that powder with 151HHT in my other x-bolt (24") barrel and I though that it pressured out before 2900 fps but the gun was new and so I'm going to try the powder again.

    6.8 WESTERN HHTS 160 GRNs.

For comparison I’m running the 160 HHT at 3012 fps in 26” x-bolt with Ramshot Magnum.

151 gr HHT in 6.8 Western

Not much data available so I thought I’d try increasing charge weights with three powders to see what velocities I get as I approach pressure. 5 to 6 grain increments (edit: increments were 0.5 to 0.6 grains). I thought I’d have it covered but will need to go back with higher charges for two...

    N165 and 199HH 300PRC Anyone?

Wouldn’t the VV website starting load of 61 gr N165 for 200 gr Nosler partition be closer? Actual weight of 199gr HH is 197. Maybe work up from there for pressure then back up and try a group.

Sizing Mandrels vs FL sizing die with expander ball??

I've just started annealing (torch + deep socket) and mandrel neck expanding (21st Cent.). I loaded a few 280AI and could feel the improved consistency when seating the bullets even with the RCBS rock chucker press. My Redding sizer die was easy as I just removed the expander ball sleeve. My...

    Loads

For my 6.8 Western x-bolt I used Ramshot Magnum with 156HH and went up to 3030fps. I’m now using 160HHT with Ramshot Magnum and get 3050 fps. My last session with the rifle was 1-mile steel. Took more than a few shots though to walk it in. I briefly tried H1000 but seemed slower? I’ve not...

    Best short action chambering?

6.8 Western might not be limited by your mag length, and getting 3050 fps with 160gr HHT. 300 WSM is a solid choice but will the bullet fit through your existing supressor?

Help me shrink my group size....

The author had interesting comment as part of the conclusion: "The theory of vibration nodes timed with bullet exit seems logical when an accomplished shooter and reloader is confidently lecturing you on the subject. But if this were true, your perfect node load would go out the window with any...

Help me shrink my group size....

Just today I had some flyers which I attribute to me not consistently settling behind the gun. I have a habit of standing up and walking around after each shot. I take notes, let barrel cool, etc. Each time I sit down for the next shot there is risk of changed position (cheek weld, rear bag...

Help me shrink my group size....

Koda. I’m going to suggest there is nothing wrong with the Inflex recoil pad. The factory bedding job is a maybe. I have two x-bolts and they are my only rifles that I have not done a custom epoxy bedding on (excepting a Savage composite stock with internal aluminum chassis). Both x-bolts...

Help me shrink my group size....

On my 280 AI I switched from Nosler brass to Peterson brass and found the Pederson to be heavier in weight and requiring a lower powder charge compared to Nosler brass. Although the 3200 fps for the 140 gr AH doesn't stand out as too high. Technique- If the x-bolt is a lightweight rifle...

    Best non inertia bullet puller?

I use Grip-n-pull and always squeeze the handles with a long pliers to get more leverage. I also have to use one size smaller on the bullet diameter holes otherwise it slips. Bullet do get marred but I always find a use on those at the range and they seem to shoot well enough at 100 yd.

    Greetings from Twodot , Mt

300 PRC here with H1000 on 8 twist. I started with the 199 HH at 3080 fps. I've run the 203 HHT also to 3080. I'm currently running the 182 HHT at 3280 to 3330 depending on which charge weight I settle on. All are about 0.5 MOA at 200 yards.
