    Primer problems

This is more than likely the problem. Maybe try the same primers in different brass to rule this out if possible.

    Temperature Test #2

Thanks for the test @T_the_Tinkerer ! I made the switch in my 223 from IMR 3031 to benchmark and I will sleep better knowing that any day of the year my load will be consistent.

Welcome from western Pa. I’m new to the hammer’s and the forum also and have found everyone very helpful. As @littlebighorn mentioned you can look at the reloading section for some data to get you started with your bullet and powder choices.

    .223 60grn HH Again

Quite impressive for a 60 grain bullet. Good shooting!

I ended up settling on a load of 28.2 grains of the benchmark at 3715 fps with a group about .75 at 100 yards. Easy peasy

I sure hope that he’s able to what it sounds like a lifelong dream of getting his desert sheep. Sometimes we forget about the little things that we are fortunate to be able to do in this country and life in general.

223 Remington 44 grain HH powder

Hello all, I just got back from the range. I decided to take @T_the_Tinkerer advice and I pulled the bullets and dumped the IMR 4198 and replaced it with 28.2 grains of benchmark. Happy with the results. About a .75 5 shot group at 100 yards with a velocity of 3715 fps. I will load up the...

Thanks, I really like a target that has a area for noting all data instead of me scribbling all over it.

223 Remington 44 grain HH powder

These are the first monos that I have loaded up. I’ve only been reloading for about 10 or so years and decided I would dip my toe into the hammer rabbit hole with my 223. I was pleasantly surprised when I seen that there was bullets available for my 1:12 twist. Hard to tell which of my rifles...

223 Remington 44 grain HH powder

Thanks T. I hope it’s ok to call you T? I loaded up some with the 4198 to try but I really like and agree with your assessment of the benchmark load. You have me thinking about just pulling the bullets and going back to work with the benchmark. I’m plenty happy with 3700+ fps and doubt I’ll be...

    .223 Damage.

I sure wish that I could shoot the heavier HH from my Remington 700 223. I’m relegated to shooting the 44 grain which may be a little light for deer. Very impressive performance!
