    Reloading...A dying art?

The constantly recurring component shortages is a major disincentive to start reloading for many. The shortages make it hard to start out small to test the waters to see if you are really interested - it is either stockpile, or you will be out of an essential component. And, also, many...

    7mag, and 118hht results

I've got a few of the Montana 1999s. The original Montana company deservedly gained a bad reputation, but I've had good luck with mine and like them a lot.

    7mag, and 118hht results

JMHO, but for myself, my rule of thumb is if you pressure out before 100+% case fill, the powder is too fast for your particular set of parameters. There may be other reason to go with the faster powder, but for just pure speed considerations, you want to be at 100+% case fill. And, usually...

    7mag, and 118hht results

There are lots of 7mm mags available. What is your "7mm mag"? I asked because your screen name is 7STW, but the velocities you are getting with a 118HHT bullet seem on the slow side to me for that particular cartridge? Maybe your 7mm mag is not a 7mm STW? For example, I get over 3900fps with...

    Hammer Trail applicator kit

Here's my own Hammer vapor trail. It was shot in June, 2023. I've shot 100's of Hammer bullets in the last 3 years, and this is the first vapor trail I've seen. I do most of my shooting east of Denver, CO, where our humidity is usually very low, 25% or less...

    28 Nosler, 155 HH, N568 - starting load?

I finally did some testing. For powder vs. velocity for 155 gn HH bullets in a 28 Nosler for N565, RL 26, H1000, and N568, see Post #476 in https://hammerbullets.com/hammertime/threads/share-your-hammer-loads.12/page-24

Starting point for 28 Nosler, 118 HHT, N565?

I finally completed some testing. For powder vs. velocity of 118 gn HHT in 28 Nosler with N565 and H4831SC, see post #475 in https://hammerbullets.com/hammertime/threads/share-your-hammer-loads.12/page-24

    28 Nosler, 155 HH, N568 - starting load?

KD - Thanks for that info. It is very helpful for figuring out a starting load with Retumbo. Your numbers are interesting - I would have expected Retumbo to pressure out at a higher velocity than 3353 fps with 143 HH bullets.

    28 Nosler, 155 HH, N568 - starting load?

MM - Thanks for the info. I was thinking about N570, too. I know I have seen very good speeds with it in the past. But, I am not sure how temperature stable it is.

    28 Nosler, 155 HH, N568 - starting load?

I haven't tried N568, yet, but I did pressure test N565, RL26, and H1000, yesterday. Did not find max pressure for N565 at 79.50 gn and 3229 fps. H1000 pressured out at 87.50 gn, 92% fill, and 3489 fps. RL26 pressured out at 84.50 gn, 90% fill, and 3465 fps. Although I was hoping for more...

    28 Nosler, 155 HH, N568 - starting load?

Anyone got any suggestions for a starting load for the subject combination? I've looked in the usual places, but there is not much info on the 155HH in a 28 Nosler, let alone such info including N568 as the powder. TIA --shinbone

    Hammer Bullets Release Results

Diesel is a handsome dog! Just to get this thread back on track after all the excellent work done by OutdoorEdventure, I've often wondered about how neck tension affects accuracy, presumably by slightly delaying the bullet's release, and how crimping can be viewed as nothing more than an...

Starting point for 28 Nosler, 118 HHT, N565?

Starting point for 28 Nosler, 118 HHT, N565?

You could be right about N565 being too slow. I like starting with the more temperature stable powders, though, so maybe H4831SC would be a good place to start. I think Reloder 23 could be good, too, but that's been unobtanium for a long time. The lightest bullet I've shot in the 28 Nosler is...
