I am in California for work right now. On way to hotel, I started surfing the regular websites. Got this pop up:

So the wonderful, all-caring, we-know-what-is-best-for-you state of California will restrict minors from visiting MidwayUSA website, but drag queens can read to children and minors well under 18 can seek a sex change without their parent’s knowledge?
Dubya-Tee-Eff???
 
This isnt a California thing. Both subjects.

I think the age thing is a federal rule, whats odd is I never heard anywhere who or why they thought this was needed it just started showing up everywhere.
 
Gotcha. I have noticed a few things confirming age, but if there were a state assigned to it, I missed it.
Fwiw, I turned on the VPN on my phone and went back to the website. No pop up.

I fear that someday this will all go very wrong. Tough choices will have to be made. Most of us have joined the same side as we view this change in America as a very poor future for America. When the day comes and I'm pretty sure it will, all we can do is stand up and dig in our heals. Steel spines tend to scare the heck out of them.
 
Agree. I once read a statement attributed to William F. Buckley where he said the primary aim of conservatism is to stand athwart history (ie, the historical, philosophical “project”) yelling “STOP!”

We modern men are certainly lost. In trying to improve the human condition, we have only made it worse. Sadly, too many people do not recognize this.

We can all disagree with the finer points of what we mean when we say “the human condition,” but I hazard a guess that we could all agree that it means we have natural, bodily, biological limits. Respecting those limits is one key to living well. And that says nothing about moral implications, though it certainly begins to point us toward a moral path.

To keep this germane, the invention of smokeless powder continues to bring me happiness. 😀
