Announcing the New Hammer HHT

Guessing he is sleeping! He is also soon headed to Africa with his son for a trip planned for at least ten years.

I'm going with the 30154HHT, 28132HHT, and the 24 cal that is coming soon 72g. I think that is the correct weight.
That 72 gr might be a nice bullet to try in my 6 Dasher. With the other bullets soon to be released, is there a 338 option around 225-250 gr?

154g is the lightest so far.
I have some 30 cal 154's and 264 125's on the way! For my 308 and 30-06 and 6.5 CM and 6.5 PRC (that should be done soon)! Both have the "new" PDR design. Looking forward to trying them out on game at non magnum velocities, and hopefully I can get my 308 to like them!

I know a ton of R&D has gone into these bullets, and I've learned a ton from all the guys here on the forum. Thanks again!

Can't wait to hear your results.

Thank you for the reply on JBM and tip stability.

On reflection, we ordered the 154 HHT and 168gn HHT in order to try out the increased spacing. In the PRC we might try 'seating long.' Not able to try this out until Fall since grandpa will do this work, me.

Thank you again for the work on the products.
A few things we need to verify before I can explain the JBM calculator thing:

A. When you add a tip length to a set bullet length as you did, the S.G. went down some, correct?
B. When you instead added that length to the bullet overall length, it went down even more, correct?

The reason you get the values you do if you change things the way you did in the JBM calculator is because the formula now assumes a different material density and center of gravity. These are important parts of determining gyroscopic stability. Rather than a thought exercise, I went out to prove the formula.

I have a cold Hammer forged (i.e. true) 1:8" barrel. I fired the 75gr ELD-M from the bench with a magnetospeed chronograph attached over a laser range finder verified ProChrono Pal set at 100yds from the bench. Weather conditions at the time of shooting were recorded. Muzzle velocity and 100yds velocity were recorded.

1.886 = S.G. without any tip
1.275 = S.G. if I don't mention that it has a tip
1.649 = S.G. if I mention the tip

When I placed my velocities into the BC estimator on their website, my bullet had a G1 BC of .460, which is very close to Hornady's advertised .467, which should not be possible if the bullet was marginally stable. So my conclusion is that the tip portion of the formula is accurate.

Hope that helps.

KISS. @Farleg What do I buy for 308 WIN, 7-08AI, and 243AI?

🤣
Gday Brad
Yep Steve was correct I was in zland
then I was having a lovely cuppa tea @3am till riceman rang & turned my day upside down 🤣yeah I don’t need enemies lol
It’s all cool just poking back @ him 😇

I’m going to rip another Band-Aid off here I don’t think you need a lightweight or should I say I’m getting my crow recipe book out anyway so I might as well have the full main course

velocity brackets have dramatically changed with this pill & once you could easily get into another bracket by just dropping weight now it’s not as easy & your mid weights seem to be where it will most likely be on the rough sums for the majority of shooters I’ve looked @
& I’ve only studied the 308 line partially
In 308 the 154 looks very nice & will hold out well in the wm & wsm etc & the rums ? The 168 has me there with the bigger chamberings for now , now your way way out yonder will no doubt will vary this thought but I’ll study & watch you guys & the results you can obtain as that will be the true indicator

243 72 gr pill sounds like a nice weight & if you had a 240 weatherby or like I’d personally think a little heavier wouldn’t hurt & if your twist appropriate

7 -08 hmm 132 hmmm , the gold standard previously was the 120 hh it flogged everything else around it ok I’m loose with flogged but it was the best I’d seen against the others
So going off what I’ve witnessed in 30 cal that is going to be a weight I’d probably gravitate towards now

The long way around for kiss right 🤣it would’ve been easier to write this
154 30 cal
72 243
132 7mm
But my coffee need cooling down till I could drink it 😜
Yes I wake up with a cuppa tea then move to coffee

my coffeebreaks over now so I better go & get my crap sorted
Catch you lot when I can
Cheers

I must have played with my cart too much. Can't get the discount to apply...

I am getting ready to work on 243 Winchester and 240 Weatherby mag stuff. Both will be primarily for my kids. Both kids shoot reliably out to 500 meters off bags/bench. For our hunting purposes 300ish yards is about as far as they will shoot. For the 243s we already have 4 loads that shoot well enough to hunt with in 4 different guns using lead bullets. I was planning on working up some 70 grain hammer hunter loads this summer for comparison with hopes of switching their hunting loads to hammers.

The 240 Weatherby is new, never fired a round. Starting from scratch, hammers are an obvious first choice for this rifle.

Now my only question is tipped or not.
