The only thing magnums get you today is longer range. Out to 400 yards, you don’t need a magnum.

Like 1-3/4 oz shot out of a 10 gauge has more for hunting quail, but I’ll stick with 1.0 oz out of a 20 or 16 gauge.

I totally agree. We finally have a bullet that can take the punishment of high speed. When I lived in Roseburg, Oregon, I'd often have coffee with an older hunter who was good friends with P.O. Ackley when he had his shop there. One of P.O.'s dreams was to get a bullet past the 5,000 fps mark. He never could do it. It was that cup and core couldn't take it. I joined the 5k club last year with the 101 Blackout in the 300 RUM. I think there are others here who have pushed Hammers past 5k as well. I agree with Joe. Even though bullet technology across the board has improved, I value the short flight time with the faster Hammers, and the Bang-Flop.
