I've got a bone to pick with Hammer's...

I just buy another Savage Axis. I have one in almost every caliber they come in. I tinker with them and get them to shoot very well. I found it doesn't take long with Hammers to find a good shooting load. Once in a while I have to try a couple of different powders but I always hit on a winner with Hammers. Performance on game, is where they really shine. An Elk with a 124 HH in a 6.5CM. One shot and down. Deer drop like wet bags of cement. Hogs just drop when hit with them. One of my buddies missed with shot on a 250 lbs pig and hit a 5 inch white pine the pig was behind. A second shot to the neck with the 85 HH in 6.5 CM took care of things. When field dressing we found a hole just behind the shoulder. I had to go back and look and yes indeed that bullet exited the pine tree and entered the pig. His girlfriend got the bullet base 2 weeks later in a sausage patty.
