Normally when reloading lead, I guesstimated loads etc, and shot several 3 shot groups, most of the time got lucky with moa or better. Copper is more expensive, so saving bullets this way. Few questions? Why the drop at 41.8? What charge would you load for a few group testing? Thanks

Popped out primers today. All looked good besides 43 gr loads, one had carbon build up, both maybe a slight crater. Hard to see with my eyes, they just changed more for the worse this last year. May try a few 3 shot groups around 41gr and 41.5gr next.

Some testing with alliant 15.5. Same as above but windy and in the 30s.

Hate bad chrono days/times...no pressure, one great node, but think warrants more testing.

Will load a few at 57 and see how they do. I might play with some other powders, but then again these are getting expensive to experiment with too much, especially since I just don’t need to shoot very far since moving to AK.

For those who might be considering some kind of 7 mm wildcat I shot my 26" barrel rifle today with 132 grain 7 mm hammer hunter tipped bullets. The case is 338 Remington ultra Mag necked to 7 mm and using 300 Remington ultra Mag brass to gain an extra hundred thousands length in neck. The primers are Winchester large rifle magnum. I used world war 2 h4831 from a pressed paper 15 lb keg.

I fired 87 grains up to 89.5 in half grain increments. Velocity started at 3600, went to 3704. What was so amazing is the group measured 5/8" at 100 yards!
@RichCoyle
If you don't mind, share twist, OAL, & name of your wildcat & save me searching for it.
Thanks
GL

338 RUM 235gr Hammer Hunter 94.0gr H1000: refined by truing primer pockets, adjusting seat depth by adding 0.008" jump, and increasing FCD to 1/4 Turn (Bean's System). This load is ready to hunt. Shooter's has this Load (235HH) and my load for 210 gr Nosler Partition with same drop through 300 yards. I plan to stoke 2 - 210 gr Partitions in the magazine and single feed the 235 gr Hammer Hunter as First Out.

Eight twist, 3.767", 7RUMLN.

Stands for 7RUM Long Neck.

Today I fired nine shots at 43* for an average of 3,618 feet per second. The other day I fired six from my shirt pocket inside my coat. They averaged 3,670 fps.

Inspired by some photos I just checked the freebore. The cartridges easily fit the magazines and leave .263" freebore!

The base of the bullets is just about at the bottom of the neck when seated for the magazine.

The COAL and CBTO measurements are unique to this rifle which can affect pressure. This load was deemed safe in my rifle, use standard safe reloading practices to work up a safe load in your rifle.

What's been your load of choice? I'm new to reloading and am working up a load with the 125 HHT for 6.5 PRC, 21" barrel, 1:8" twist. I've yet to test it but I've got some loads with N560 from 57 grains to 60.5 that I plan to test soon. What's the 5" vertical string that you experienced with this powder? Forgive my ignorance. Does that mean there was a 5" group (vertically) with 61 grains? and there wasn't with the lower grains of powder? Thanks for any input/feedback?

The "5 inch vertical string at 200 yds" was the entire pressure ladder. My final load was 59.3 gr of N560 at ~3150 fps from a 20" 1-7 barrel. It is sub MOA. COAL 2.830" (0.050 from lands). Pressure started around 3250 fps, and the groups began to open up.
