270 Win Hand Load Development 117gr Hammer Hunter

Signed up for Graf & Sons updates on Peterson brass for this 270 project. In the meantime, working with FC brass from Riceman, and honing in on a 122HHT load recipe for this hunting season.

Got back out this weekend with my newly installed painkiller brake and also swapped to a 50mm obj scope.

My best efforts with 117HH hover just below 1 MOA, whereas I'm having better groups with the 124HH or 122HHT with this rifle. In my most recent range session, shot my first ladder with 122HHT, worked up from 54 to 57 grains of H4350, and then found a good group with FCD at +1/2T. Will look to repeat these results and try some higher crimps as well at 57 grains, then develop DOPE.

Hello Precision. I loaded the 117 HH for my 270 with 60 grains IMR 4350. I averaged 3418 from a 26" 1-10 twist Ruger no.1. Group was .378" at 100 yards. Took several white tails with it all DRT. OAL 3.315, Federal 210 primer. Light crimp. After waiting three years for the Covid mess to settle down with crossing the border I am finally heading to Saskatchewan for a trophy whitetail hunt. Hope to have good results to post when I return.

Sorry for the delay in my post. Had a great hunt in Saskatchewan. Took a beautiful whitetail. Slightly quartering toward me. 117 grain HH from my 270 Win hit in his right shoulder and exited just in front of the left hind quarter. DRT.
