Nine year olds first gobbler

My friend and his nine year old hunted behind my house last Friday. 22 pounds nine and three quarter inch beard. Proud dad, and son. They had three birds working, this one came up at twelve yards.

You might know this guy, he's the local Ag guy for the state. Eric Scheavy. Lives in Northern Calhoun Co.

This just happened, my best friend and hunting buddy killed this one two hours ago, again five hundred yards away from my house. Sorry for the crappy picture, they haven't all loaded onto my tablet.

I've trapped and killed 38 raccoons and 9 possum last three years. There's been a Turkey explosion in that time. Nobody does small predator control anymore. They police up coyotes. But if you want nesting animals the coons and possums have to go.

My friends son died in his early twenties from leukemia, that shotgun was his. It only comes out of the safe on special occasions. You can see the gold turkey on the stock, it was won at a NWTF banquet when the young man was about12. He hunted with it for the next the next decade. Its laid low a lot of birds.
