Gday reemtyj88 grains H4350, federal 215m primer, Bertram brass, gets you 3350 fps in 26” barrel. IMR 7828ssc may get you more velocity, but Kneedeep ( no idea how Mike came up with that handle) told me H4350 was more temp stable! I have no reason to doubt his wisdom!
Thanks for that. R26 with a 200 gr afterburner gets me 3200 FPS out of my 23” barrel 338 RUM right now. This is with ADG brass. I’m sure the HHT should get close to that velocity.88 grains H4350, federal 215m primer, Bertram brass, gets you 3350 fps in 26” barrel. Here is some 338 RUM data with the 210HHT ( actually weighs 212 )
26” Bartlein barrel
Bertram brass new
215m primer
OAL 3.587
1/4 crimp
95 grains IMR 7828ssc
65 degrees
3 shots 3461-3467-3459=3462 average mid day shooting.
It’s a 3/8”-3/4” 3 shot grouper for me, some days are better for me, meaning operator error!
I doubt Kodiak island will be warmer than this in 2 weeks and most likely the shot will be sub 200 yards, just as a reference, running this through Hornady ballistic calculator, see below on energy. This powder is temperature sensitive but I just can’t let go of the gain in velocity. It’s a 100 fps faster than 88 grains H4350 and same group sizes. This load is the max in Nosler reloading Manuel for 210 bullet.
Energy. Drop.
Muzzle 5642

What are you going after in Kodiak and where? I used to live there....Here is some 338 RUM data with the 210HHT ( actually weighs 212 )

Always ran into plenty of bear out there deer hunting! Lost a few deer to them too. Good luck finding one that suits you, I have no doubt you'll see a few.Brown bear, kauignak Bay Area
Reemtyj, I joined the old forum to get in on the discussions about the balance of a pill and what makes one pill perform better than another. I chose Kneedeep to remind myself that was as far as I was willing to wade into those conversations.IMR 7828ssc may get you more velocity, but Kneedeep ( no idea how Mike came up with that handle) told me H4350 was more temp stable!
As a side note, it also opens well under 1700fps on light resistance (wallaby).
