Still working out the particulars of this bullet trap. But finding clay 22 yards from initial detention was insane.

I think I understand the use of modeling clay better now that I can see the (partial) impression that the 'bubble' behind in the largest chunk of intact clay.

No shank? Where'd it go? You think it somehow got out of the box of sand? Stacked magazines might catch a bullet better..... Are you sure that was a shank hole in the duct tape box and not a petal? Thanks for posting the video - certainly informative.

What’s interesting to me was the bubble or blow out waves were rolling back towards the entrance.
But molding clay is a pretty hard medium.

I honestly think the bullet was caught in the box fold. I have 6 layers of duct tape on the front end. Which may be a lot to punch through after 10 pounds of clay. I think moving the box around before capturing the bullet, the weight of the sand pushed the bullet out of the box.
I’ll bring filter with me in field from now on so I can capture in field.

Gonna run my fastest and hardest hitting bullets next to see results.

What will be interesting is to run some heavy fast bullets as well out of some larger cartridges such as 06, 300WM etc.

Not a bad idea. In order to get it to work, I’d have to put it between the plastic lid and molding clay.

I was thinking of the leather instead of the plastic lid to remove the hard surface before the clay like hitting between the ribs.
