Unlike @joe16 I'd try the grubs, and a worm. The ground living critters here often carry fleas, and plague. A tree squirrel can be good eating, ground squirrel more like rats. Even the dirt likely healthier.

I can remember 30 <gasp!> years ago putting out spot fires that they would start after cooking their take. The difference between California and SE Asia terrain is HUGE!

@Farleg , the herb blend is interesting as long as it doesn’t include the kind herb. Too much of it around here. No wonder we had the munchies when we got back to Fire Camp.
