Any problems running the Hammer .411s in a bore that measures .4120 to .4130"? TBH I don't know what the PDR band heights are because I've ordered but haven't received them to measure yet. Probably just an attack of the worries

I can't help you on your question, but maybe you can help me - if the bore diameter is .411, what is the groove diameter?

I'm thinking you'll run into trouble in the situation you described, but I'm probably mixed up in my understanding

Hmmmm...I think it will be very close. We do cut oversize but only 5 ten thousands. So, those bullets will be .412" dia. The specs for the 405 Win is a bullet diameter of .4115". My guess is they will work well for what the cartridge is designed for.

Awesome, thanks Steve. I'm working with an older Japanese barrel that's slugging slightly plus sized, but getting a new barrel that's going to be button cut to .412.

Hand Skills - per Pac Nor their groove diameter is .412", lands diameter is .405". There's some info on Cast Boolits saying the original 405 Winchester spec was .4115" grove diameter to match the bullet, but SAAMI spec (which I'm guessing came with the 2008 re-issue by Winchester) specifies .412 grove diameter. Should work well, hopefully

So just remember Hammers have a terrible track record of shooting lights out in so called shot out barrels leaving you in conundrum! My Sendero 300WM with 1500+ now shoots 3/4MOA! Beware!

Shooting a Winchester1885 High wall. 250 grain Shock Hammer. Very accurate, and very deadly. 57.5 grains of Norma 201. 2250 FPS. Could get more, but I like my shoulder just as it is.
